Armagh Observatory and Planetarium is the oldest continuously active astronomical observatory in the British Isles. Within is a remarkable collection of scientific instruments, the telescopes still largely in situ and witness to the development of the astronomy since the Enlightenment.

The collection includes the original instruments and clocks the building was designed to house as well as objects, documents and manuscripts dating back to the 15th century, many of which are of considerable national significance. Providing a unique record of continuous activity since before the Observatory’s foundation in 1790, the collections now document the development of astronomy from the age of enlightenment to the modern day.
