The Lindsay Scholarship is a postgraduate scholarship awarded jointly by AOP and our sister organisation in Dublin – DIAS, the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies to support a jointly supervised PhD student. The scholarship is named in honour of Eric Lindsay, the seventh Director of Armagh Observatory and the founder of the Armagh-Dunsink-Harvard (ADH) telescope that was built at Boyden Observatory in South Africa in 1950. The scholarship alternates between AOP and DIAS, with the student enrolled in a university that is a member of the Astronomical Society of Ireland. It is supported through the Astronomical Observatories of Ireland partnership.
